In Ayurveda, Neem is considered one of the most powerful and versatile medicinal plants. It is often referred to as “Sarva Roga Nivarini” – meaning the curer of all ailments. With its bitter taste (Tikta rasa) and cooling potency (Sheeta virya), neem balances Pitta and Kapha doshas and is used extensively in internal and external therapies.
1. Blood Purification
Neem is a renowned Rakta Shodhak (blood purifier). It helps eliminate toxins from the blood, making it especially useful in treating skin disorders such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis.
2. Skin Health
Neem has antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. It is used in various forms – paste, oil, decoction – to treat skin
infections, wounds, and even chronic conditions like leprosy and scabies.
3. Immune Support
Regular consumption of neem (under guidance) helps boost immunity. Its antimicrobial action helps the body defend against bacterial and viral infections.
4. Dental Health
Neem twigs have traditionally been used as natural toothbrushes in India. Its antibacterial nature helps prevent plaque, gingivitis, and bad breath.
5. Digestive & Liver Support
Neem helps in maintaining healthy digestion by eliminating harmful bacteria and aiding in the proper function of the liver, which is crucial for detoxification.
6. Anti-parasitic Action
Neem is a natural krimighna – it helps destroy intestinal worms and other parasites, making it beneficial in managing infestations
and improving gut health.
7. Diabetes Management
Neem helps regulate blood sugar levels. In Ayurveda, it is used in formulations for Prameha (diabetes) due to its ability to reduce excessive sugar levels in the body.
